Hawaii's Ferals In Danger
http://www.civilbeat.org/2016/08/theres-one-obvious-solution-to-hawaiis-feral-cat-problem/
Yet again our beloved kitties and their brothers and sisters all across The Islands are in danger. There are those who feel it's time to euthanize the feral cat population, not just here but throughout The Islands of Hawaii. The subject comes up at least a couple times a year and especially at election times. Last year Oahu wanted to get it on the books to make it Illegal to care for the kitties the way we do. Illegal to provide them water, food, vet care, medications and love and attention. I apologize the link isn't working but you can coy and paste the above link and see the latest article condemning our furbabies.
From The Abay Kitties Facebook Page:
Stories like this make my blood boil. The rat like mongoose kill more Hawaiian critters than well cared for ferals. Our furbabies have fresh water and food delivered to their doorstep 365 days a year. There's no need to exert all that energy to hunt. Now they will hunt humans.....they can never get enough human love & attention.
As far as damage to our marine life and oceans. Us humans are way more damaging than a bunch of cats. Do you know how much junk each one of those beautiful cruise ships dump in our gorgeous waters?
How many dolphins, honu, manta rays and seals are harmed by visitors wanting to touch them, swim with them and take photo ops. Have you seen the scars left on their bodies by tour boat props, ladders and anchors.
We will fight for the lives of every last feral!
